How many times have you seen a whack car spewing black exhaust up the entire street while you say, “That actually passed inspection?” It appears we’re not the only ones who recognize the jalopies that shoot emissions like that into the atmosphere. Today I came across a few different stories on the ever growing fleets of hybrids within our communities. Pretty much perfect timing as I had just finished taking a survey for my intern’s marketing class on the positioning of hybrid vehicles in the various forms of media we ingest. I guess I’m not the only one to rate reducing green house gasses towards to top of the list. First, NYC should applaud itself for having 1,020 out of 13,150 hybrid cabs on the city streets. Big organizations have finally started to take the dip. It seems that saving money at the gas pump earns cabbies an extra $25 in their pockets per day. There is incentive up and down to move to green. FedEx is also making some moves as they recently increased the number of hybrid delivery trucks to the total of 172. It’s a good start, now how to we get better, faster? FedEx claims that the low emission vehicles are improving fuel economy by approximately 42% while reducing emissions by 30%. Now if only they could change that arrow between the E and the X to a nice shade of green….
