Nike, IBM, Unilever, Toshiba, P&G, HP and Sony are among the companies listed in the top 10 of this year’s audit. Poor performers, Apple, eBay, and Amazon.com didn’t fare well mostly because they have not made any information public about internal audits of company impact on global warming nor have they made any public statements in support of public policy that addresses climate change issues.
Climate Counts use a 0-to-100 point scale and 22 criteria to determine if companies have:
- MEASURED their climate “footprint”
- REDUCED their impact on global warming
- SUPPORTED (or suggest intent to block) progressive climate legislation
- Publicly DISCLOSED their climate actions clearly and comprehensively
