True story: The words John McCain laid out as a concession to Barack Obama were incredibly classy, and constructed the best speech he’s given in years.
In retrospect, the biggest tragedy story of this recent race for the presidency is how somebody as revered as McCain can fall prey to the shitty polarization game played by the GOP. Their slimey maneuvers have ruined the image of the one of their most independent and free-thinking party members. Way to go guys, you killed any chance of being respected by rational-minded human beings.
John McCain knew what he was doing, yes. He’s an adult. A very, very old adult. But he also knew, as we all know now, that the Republican party and its current supporters are not interested in a sea change, or new concepts, or even ideas (funny considering they lambast Obama for not having a solid idea)…they’re interested in stagnancy. In staying the same. He catered to their interests, like any good politician will do.
Well guess what? This country needs to evolve. In order to once again become the dominant species in a world of nations, we need to grow new thumbs.
GOP and its supporters: You should be ASHAMED of what you did to this man. Consider yourselves Victor Frankensteins, architects of a monster you will now discard.
